MuL 192 Small Project 1: Treasure Hunt


 
Choose a task from the list below and write a detailed account of the experience:

  1. Go to Quiapo and look for the place where one can get halal chicken. Canvass for the prices. (Alternatvie - look for store that sells Excelente Ham). 
  2. Take a ride on the PNR train from Pasay Road in Makati to Tutuban Station. Go to Divi Mall and buy some Asian style Christmas decor for the Department of Musicology.
  3. Go to Quiapo Church and look for the vendors selling amulets and folk remedies. Look for a concoction called "pamparegla" and canvass for the cheapest price (Be sure to find out medication instruction, dosage, etc.)
  4. Look for the music stores that sell rondalla instruments in Sta. Mesa. Canvass for the prices of octavinas.
  5. Ride the Pasig River Ferry from Guadalupe station to Escolta. From Escolta, proceed to Ongpin and look for the Estero Restaurant and eat there. 
  6. Go to UP Los Banos. Find the Magnetic Mountain spot and take a snapshot of the signboard. Head to Dal Cielo Restaurant and find ot the name(s) of the owner(s).
  7. Look for the original location of the UP Conservatory of Music in Quiapo. Take a snapshot of the street name. Find out which the oldest building on the street is.
  8. Go Antipolo and look for the Cathedral. Once there, look for the image of the patron saint and make a detailed description. On your way home, buy a package of the local delicacy.
  9. Look for Toho food center in Binondo Manila. Learn about its history. Ask waiter what they would recommend and order it.

Stay on the side of caution at all times. You may bring a companion but understand that his/her presence will affect the whole experience. Bring a small notebook for jotting down quick notes. No need for elaborate photographic documentation (that will be another project).  Keep all ticket stubs, receipts and similar stuff as evidence. Remember, for this exercise, the process is more important than the goal. Detailed reports are due on Thursday, Aug. 28.
